Sunday Irish Racing Tips: Empire can rule at Naas

Bryan Cooper has the pick of the Gigginstown horses but Tony wants to take him on today

It's Cheltenham Trials Day at Naas and Irish racing analyst has found plenty of betting angles on the card...

"With the way he went through race, Aminabad is worth rating close to the winner, form that would leave him about the pick here, and he looks a big price at 11.010/1 and bigger."

2 Points Back Aminabad @ 11.010/1 or bigger in the Naas 15:20

A Hardy Nailer has been put in favourite but that looks wrong; she comes here off a mini-break with the hood applied and hinted at temperament last time. Much preferred is Arctic Skipper who has recent form and a good attitude; there should be improvement from Thurles as it was his first outing since April. In a race heavy on numbers but light on talent, he'll be hard to keep from the frame. Hold The Line is another that is too short; the booking of Ruby is a big part of that.

Naas 14:10
Only the front four in the betting should count in this handicap hurdle and I'm inclined to oppose the recent winners with horses that finished behind them of late as there are logical reasons for form reversals.

Westerner Son looks a much-improved model this season and was forced into running an inefficient race against A Grey Matter; Princeton Plains made him kick clear of the field down the back. There's a chance that happens again but under less forceful tactics he can get the ground back.

Misty Lady is 16lbs better off with Lilshane for their last meeting when she was in front too soon; even though Lilshane has improved since, Misty Lady is the pick at the prices as she also shaped well at Leopardstown last time.

Naas 14:50
This Nas Na Riogh looks a much better race changed to a handicap and is filled with interesting ones; the likes of Band Of Blood, Draycott Place and Call Rog are all worth checking at big prices near the off.

At current prices, Empire Of Dirt stands out win and place. A slow learner over fences, he was getting the hang of things in some style at Thurles last time before falling two out. Up only 2lbs, he looks well-treated and this shorter trip will suit.

Naas 15:20
Bryan Cooper has chosen All Hell Let Loose ahead of Aminabad after they finished second and fifth respectively behind Bentelimar last time but the result tells a partial story; while the former fell into the runner-up spot, the latter travelled strongly (hitting 1.51/2 in running) before blowing out and likely needed the run, his first since November. With the way he went through race, Aminabad is worth rating close to the winner, form that would leave him about the pick here, and he looks a big price at 11.010/1 and bigger.

Of the rest, Max Dynamite is respected but he could be overbet after finishing second to the high-profile Kitten Rock while Lean Araig is likely to take a step back dropped in trip; he'd be better suited to the Michael Purcell at Thurles this Thursday. The form of Modem's Boylesports second looks overrated.

Naas 15:50
The ratings suggest Twinlight has run up to form the last twice but visually he's not looked like winning either race and like last season, a January jaunt to England seems to have set him back. Mallowney is short for this but there's a case for making him shorter; he is three from three at the track and has had this as a target since winning the Dan Moore, a career best performance.

He gave Bright New Dawn weight and a hiding that day and goes well for Davy Russell so looks a solid favourite at 2.265/4
