Olly Murphy Aintree Day Two Runners Preview: Itchy Feet the best of the English contingent

Itchy Feet
Olly is hoping for a good showing from Itchy Feet who was excellent at Cheltenham

Betfair Ambassador Olly Murphy sends his Cheltenham star Itchy Feet to Aintree for the Novice Hurdle on Friday and is hopeful of a big run...

"I think it's fair to say Itchy Feet is not too far off some of the best novices on either side of the Irish sea."

Aintree 14:20 - Itchy Feet can go close

Itchy Feet ran well in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, which was won by Klassical Dream under a well-judged ride from Ruby Walsh. The Supreme always sorts the top novices and having been beaten a total of five lengths into third in that race I think it's fair to say Itchy Feet is not too far off some of the best novices on either side of the Irish sea.

In fact, he is probably the best of the English runners in here.

It's a concern running them back so quickly after Cheltenham as it's not always obvious what the race takes out of them. My fellow did burst a blood vessel in there but he has been showing me all the right signs at home so we are happy to take our chance.

I said that soft ground at Cheltenham would be a concern and any softening of the ground in Aintree would be far from ideal as I think he would really appreciate some decent underfoot conditions.

Having said that, he's a horse which is improving all the time and hopefully he can go close.
