After a tremendous week at the Cheltenham Festival, Betfair Ambassador Gordon Elliott aims to fire in yet more winners at Wexford on Saturday...
"Cocktails At Dawn just missed out on getting into the Cross Country race at Cheltenham this week so this was his second option. I was happy enough with his yard debut back in September but he’s come on leaps and bounds since.."
Park Paddocks was a little disappointing on very testing ground at Gowran Park last month, I was happy with his run at Fairyhouse the time before where he finished third of ten runners in a race won by our own Commentariolus who was impressive. Park Paddocks has been in great form at home and I would be hopeful he could collect some prize money here.
Monatomic has been quite underwhelming in his three starts so he is going to need to step up a good bit to trouble the judge here. Looking at the positives he has been schooling very well at home and I think now with a few runs behind him the penny may just slowly start to drop.
Colonel Maximus has his first start for new connections the Gordon Elliott Racing Club today, he has had two runs for us now in which his jumping wasn't as fluent as it could have been but he'll come on for the experience and I'd like to think we'll see some improvement from the flat winner today on his handicap debut.
Rightdownthemiddle has been pretty uninspiring of late, he's not the worst of them and he does have some ability but he would need to get back to his best to be a factor here although everything looks ideal, he has some really good runs in big handicaps behind him so we will persevere and hope to see better here today. Peace N' Milan looks the one to beat.
Cocktails At Dawn just missed out on getting into the Cross Country race at Cheltenham this week so this was his second option. I was happy enough with his yard debut back in September but he's come on leaps and bounds since, stepping back up in trip today will suit and if he handles the ground I would anticipate a good run under Davy Russell.
Soul Kaliber has had plenty of runs since the start of the year so heads here in rude health however he is another who needs to improve, he's now had 11 starts and is yet to get his head in front but I do think he has potential and I'd like to think that elusive first win won't be too far away Davy Russell takes the ride for the first time.
Moratorium was quite uninspiring on his debut back in December finishing a lowly eighth of ten runners at Punchestown. We eased up on him after to let him get his head around things, he is horse who will definitely come on with time but he would need to show plenty of improvement on that run to be a main danger here. Lisa O'Neill claims 3lb.
