Gordon Elliott takes his excellent season to Naas on Saturday with seven runners in action. Get his verdict on his Saturday team here..
"Pete So High has some decent form on the flat so I hope he can continue that over hurdles and if he can replicate his last run he has a very strong chance."
13:35 - Monatomic
Monatomic debuted in a Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park last month running moderately in very testing conditions, I think he will improve for the slightly better ground today as well as having a run behind him now. He seems to have come on in himself at home and I would anticipate a better show today with the step up in trip looking more suitable.
14:10 - Bilko
Bilko has never run a bad race but just can't seem to get his head in front despite the addition of cheekpieces this season which don't seem to have made much of a difference to him. A course and distance third last time out I think he will run another consistent race, he will need to show some improvement to take home the trophy and he is a little frustrating at this stage but with a first-time tongue tie I hope that might do the trick.
14:45 - Cartwright
Cartwright finished a promising second behind favourite Scarpeta on his first run for us last month on what was only his first start over hurdles, the ground was bottomless that day so I was delighted with the way he ran and I'd hope facing the better ground today that would just help him along. Epicuris looks the one to beat here.
15:20 - Pete So High & Schindlers Ark
Pete So High won nicely at Thurles last month, it wasn't the strongest race in the world but he stayed on well to come home a five-length winner. Jack said he just about handled conditions so he's one that will improve as we start to see better ground. He has some decent form on the flat so I hope he can continue that over hurdles and if he can replicate his last run he has a very strong chance. Room To Roam finished ahead of him on his penultimate start but I'd be hopeful he could reverse that form today.
Schindlers Ark was promoted to first place after some interference on his penultimate start at Cork after being impeded by the Galtymore, he was staying on very gamely at the time and I was happy with the way he ran. He was less successful on his latest outing returning to the flat, but he didn't disgrace himself and he should be a fun dual-purpose horse for the season who I think will run well again today reverting back to hurdles under Liam McKenna's 7lb claim.
15:55 - Dinaria Des Obeaux
Dinaria Des Obeaux won her first Grade 2 at Thurles last month, I was confident of her chances and she was entitled to win it on her Drinmore run. She is a great little mare who is doing all the right things so stepping back down in class today I would again be very hopeful of a big run back over 2m. The only runner she has faced before from this field is Youcantcallherthat who finished 19L behind her at Thurles so doesn't look a danger today, her main concern here is Asthuria who is an in form course and distance winner and Willie's other horse Benie Des Dieux is another big danger despite having top weight.
16:25 - Back Bar
Back Bar showed a decent bit of improvement at Tramore, he's not had the best of luck but if he can continue in the right direction I don't think his day will be far away and this looks ideal so he goes into it with no excuses. His jumping has improved and today he will be partnered by Liam McKenna who I think will suit him.
