All eyes will be on the return of classy mare Apples Jade at Navan on Sunday, and here to talk about her chances, plus those of all his other runners on the card, is Betfair Ambassador Gordon Elliott...
"She came back from her break looking a million dollars and regular work rider Lisa O’Neill reports her to be in tremendous form."
- Gordon Elliott on Apples Jade
Navan, 12:35 - Swingbridge
Swingbridge has really come into himself since joining the team with three back-to-back wins and a couple of decent runs. After mixing it up over hurdles and fences he sticks to the former today for this contest. The trip is ideal for him and so long as the ground doesn't get any worse he's in with another very good chance.
Navan, 13:10 - Morgan & Mengli Khan
Morgan is a very dependable individual, rarely out of the first two and always in the money he ran a blinder last time out in a Grade 3 at Tipperary to finish second behind Sayar. With just six declared runners this looks an ideal opportunity for him to gain his first Graded victory.
Course and distance winner Mengli Khan steps back up to Grade 3 company, a huge big horse he really improved for his time off and came back into training a stronger horse to win well here last time out, he runs well fresh and again, with the small field he has every chance.
Navan, 13:40 - Apples Jade & Flaxen Flare
Apples Jade makes her hotly anticipated return for the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle. She came back from her break looking a million dollars and regular work rider Lisa O'Neill reports her to be in tremendous form.
This looks an ideal event for her to make a winning return and I think the booking of Jack Kennedy will suit. Her main danger would be Jer's Girl who benefits from being race fit but she's yet to trouble her so I hope we can keep it that way!
2013 Fred Winter winner Flaxen Flare, while a promising horse in his day isn't in the same league as some of the other runners, his last win being in 2015 however with the small field there is every chance he can collect some prize money with a clear round.
Navan, 14:10 - Clarcam & The Game Changer
Dual Grade 1 winner Clarcam can be a crafty old character, he's either very good or very bad! All of his better runs are in smaller fields so this should be to his liking although he won't want the ground to go too soft. He always does well for his time off and has come back into training looking a million dollars and runs very well for today's jockey Jack Kennedy so that's a big plus.
The Game Changer probably has the upper hand over Clarcam and is more consistent however pulled up last time out over hurdles at Punchestown. The return to chasing today should have him back to himself however both runners face danger from Henry De Bromhead's runner Alisier D'Irlande.
Navan, 14:45 - Brelade & Minella Till Dawn
This is a hot contest in which again we have two runners representing Cullentra; Brelade has had two decent starts this season over fences and is progressing nicely. This race has been won by greats such as Min, Douvan and Vautour just to name a few so the winner will be in good company! Footpad looks the one to beat for Brelade but our lad's Chase experience will hold him in good stead.
Minella Till Dawn is a lovely big horse who will only improve for time, he finished behind Bel Ami De Sivola on his latest and could be up against it today however is a real mud lover will relish the ground conditions.
Navan, 15:20 - Masterson
Masterson was last seen in the Legends Charity Race at Punchestown in October which was a nice little change for him. He ran poorly here at Navan before that in a 2m6 Hurdle back in September and would need to improve on that to get back to his best however dropping back in trip will suit him.
Navan, 15:50 - Invincible Cave
Point-to-Point winner Invincible Cave contests the Bumper, that little bit of experience will benefit him and he goes very well at home. We'll know more about him after today but he's a major player in this race of just five runners.
