The Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, at the Curragh in Ireland, has a reputation for producing a smart winner, likely to figure prominently in ante-post betting odds for the next season's 1,000 Guineas in England and Ireland.

The seven furlongs event for two-year-old fillies can be a challenging betting hear but those with bets on Aidan O'Brien over the years have been well rewarded. The Ballydoyle maestro has dominated the Moyglare Stud Stakes betting in recent times landing four of the last seven runnings, most recently with Rumplestiltskin (2005) the subject of some sizeable bets on race day.

Whilst the winner is normally judged a serious candidate for top honours the following year, a fact reflected in after-the-race betting action when ante-post odds on the Guineas is usually affected, the record of the winning filly going on to scale the heights the next season is patchy at best. Indeed, the odds are somewhat against the Moyglare Stud Stakes winner following up in a classic race as a three-year-old.

Jockey Michael Kinane has partnered two of the last four winners of the race and there will surely be plenty of bets in support of his chosen mount once again.
