One of the greatest races in the world, the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, run at Longchamp, is very often the hottest betting race of the season attracting massive bets at a wide variety of odds on the leading horses of their generation from Europe and beyond.

The mile-and-a half race has been won by some of the greatest names in the history of flat racing; Ribot, Sea Bird, Mill Reef, Alleged, Rainbow Quest and Montjeu to name but a few have all landed the odds and stacks of bets worldwide to establish themselves as immortals of the turf.

Victories such as that of the mighty Dancing Brave in 1986 have seen this massive betting race pass almost mythical status, both for betting aficionados and pure racing fans.

Approaching the final furlong, Dancing Brave had eight horses in front of him (most of which were already Group1 winners) but he defied all the odds to produce a blistering turn of foot that landed monster bets and sent British betting fans into ecstacy.

In recent years trainer Andre Fabre has had a superb record, sending out four of the last 10 winners and there will be many betting that he can defy the odds and complete a hat-trick in the race, after the recent victories of Hurricane Run and Rail Link.

Frankie Dettori and Saeed bin Suroor have won the race twice with older horses Marienbard and Sakhee, (also once with the short odds unbeaten three-year-old Lammtarra) but their successes apart, the race has been dominated by three-year-old's since 1995 and many people will be preparing their bets with this in mind and betting accordingly.

As well as Dettori, jockey Olivier Peslier has delighted French betting fans on no less than three occasions and is another jockey whose mounts always attract plenty of bets, a fact very often reflected in the pre-race odds and on-course betting.
