The brilliant Sea The Stars seems unlikely to go to Leopardstown
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: “It has been bright and dry at the course today, but unfortunately the Betfair market suggests that the clash of the 3yo superstars at Leopardstown on September 5 is looking increasingly unlikely.
Ground concerns force Sea The Stars out to [2.6] for Leopardstown Group One
Liquidity is literally thin on the ground on Betfair's Irish Champion Stakes ante-post market - or, perhaps a touch more accurately, on account of the forecast soft ground - but Fame And Glory has usurped Sea The Stars (pictured) as favourite for the race for the first time today.
The runaway Irish Derby winner is in to [1.88] on Betfair, with the all-conquering Sea The Stars drifting to [2.6].
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "It has been bright and dry at the course today, but unfortunately the Betfair market suggests that the clash of the 3yo superstars at Leopardstown on September 5 is looking increasingly unlikely.
"In truth, there is not a great deal of depth in the market, due to the fact that Sea The Stars won't be risked on the soft ground that many are forecasting. And his absence would render Fame And Glory a [1.33] chance, at best.
"But with every other bookmaker declining to price up the race, it's the only, and best, betting guide that punters have at the moment."
