Goodwood's Group 2 Celebration Mile, open to three-year-olds and upwards, is normally a strong betting contest won by a smart performer, although not always a horse out of the very top drawer.
Until 2002 the classic generation won the overwhelming majority of renewals of the race, but those setting the odds will note that the trend has noticeably changed in recent years with older horses such as Chic, Tillerman and Caradak landing the bets.
Sir Michael Stoute appears to target this event and has won four of the last seven runnings, making his representatives will worth a second glance from a betting perspective, and the odds are that he will again send out one of the market leaders.
For such a powerful yard, Godolphin has a poor record in this race and has only sent out one winner ( Mark Of Esteem 1996), a record that might prompt many taking bets to set odds against the Dubaians finding their touch again
