Firmly established as the premier international race day, the Breeders' Cup, run in North America every year in late October at variety of courses, is amongst the biggest betting events of the calendar attracting massive betting volumes and significant individual bets at a wide range of odds available across the continents.

The 2007 renewal will be staged at Monmouth Park where an additional three new Breeders' Cup races will be run on the Friday, before the main event on Saturday October 27th sees eight world-class races and mouth-watering betting opportunities.

The Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies races open the card, the former remembered by legions of European punters for the massive betting coup that saw Arazi win in astonishing fashion in 1991 for Francois Boutin.

The Filly & Mare Turf has proved a happy hunting ground for British raiders, the remarkable Ouija Board defying the odds in winning the race twice in the last three years following on from the win of Isling ton in 2003 for Sir Michael Stoute. From a betting perspective this race has proved the most lucrative for those betting in Europe against their American rivals.

The Sprint and the Mile are next on the programme, the Sprint being dominated by US speedsters since Sheikh Alabadou's memorable win in 1991. European horses have fared better in the Mile, winning four of the last 11 renewals much to the delight of the British, Irish and French betting legions who are always prepared to back their charges despite the odds against them.

The Distaff is next, then the Turf, the one race where the odds are in favour of the Europeans who surprisingly have won seven of the last eight renewals of this mile-and-a half event. There will be many betting that the record will continue once again this year.

The finale, the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic, has never been won by a British runner, only Arcangues for France in 1993 has broken the US domination of the race and it would be a brave man that bets that this situation changes in 2007.
