The Group 1 Aston Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks, open to fillies and mares aged three years old and above, is invariably won by a high class performer who normally figures high on the betting list and already has classic form in the book.

Sir Michael Stoute has been the darling of the betting public in this event in particular in recent years, having defied the odds and won the race four times in the last seven running, most of his winners have been heavily bet on their way to victory.

The mile-and-a half contest doesn't normally attract a double-figure field and those looking to have a bet on the race don't usually look much further than the first three in the betting forecasts, although there has been the occasionally shock, such as in 2001 when Italy's Super Tassa stunned the odds-makers.

The Stoute dominance of the race apart, Henry Cecil, a trainer many like to bet on, has also won the race twice in the last nine years and, should he be represented in the event, his runners are worthy of respected and may find favour in the betting markets.
