We asked fans of the Betfair Facebook page for the best bets they had - or wished they had - last week and whittled the shortlist of punts down to four. They were:
Undrafted to win the Diamond Jubilee @ 14/1
The American trained Undrafted had to come from last to first under Frankie Dettori to land the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday. Australia's top rated sprinter Brazen Beau went off the well-supported favourite and had every chance inside the final furlong, but Undrafted and Dettori narrowly held on to the win. The win saw Frankie claim his third win of the week at Royal Ascot.
War Envoy to win the Britannia Stakes @ 10/1
Ryan Moore backers were well rewarded at Royal Ascot last week, with Thursday's Britannia Stakes win aboard War Envoy seeing the Betfair Ambassador equal the modern day record of eight Royal Ascot wins. Some punters may have been lucky enough to get 20/1 on Thursday morning, but continued support saw him go off at 10/1. Moore looked confident throughout, and pushed War Envoy late to take the lead well inside the final furlong.
Jordan Spieth to win the US Open @ 10/1
Branden Grace EW in the US Open @ 100/1
Jordan Spieth has gained a large following this season, winning three PGA events including the Masters in April, and picking up the 'Golden Child' moniker along the way. Four players were tied at 4 under par going into the final round. Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Branden Grace. The latter, better known on the European Tour, shot one over leaving him in a tie for fourth place, rewarding e/w punters with a sizeable return.
Spieth shot a final day 69 to take the clubhouse lead at 5 under par, with Johnson one shot behind playing the Par 5 18th hole. All Spieth could do was watch as big hitting Johnson reached the green in two, leaving himself a 12 foot putt for an eagle and the win. Unfortunately for DJ it wasn't to be. He went long with the first putt, leaving himself a tricky five foot return to tie the lead and force an 18-hole play-off. Again he managed to stay outside the hole, leaving Spieth to collect his second major of the year, and keep hopes of a Grand Slam alive.
And the final results were as follows:
1) War Envoy to win the Britannia Stakes @ 10/1 (44% of the votes)
2) Jordan Spieth to win the U.S Open @ 10/1 (31% of the votes)
3) Undrafted to win the Diamond Jubilee @ 14/1 (16% of the votes)
4) Branden Grace EW in the U.S Open @ 100/1 (9% of the votes)
