Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when Herecomesnelson was placed. Today Nick is back with a selection from Newbury and one from Musselburgh...
"I think he has a future over the larger obstacles and should go close with a clear round"
14:20 Musselburgh - Regal Ways
Regal Ways is an interesting runner in this novices' hurdle for mares.
This flat performer was knocked down to Brian Ellison for 10,000gns at the sales last October. She was pretty consistent on the level and won a handicap over 12 furlongs for Mark Johnston. Her official rating on the flat was 74.
She makes her hurdles debut today and should be competitive in this company. She should have no stamina issues and will handle the ground.
I do not think this race will take a lot of winning, and should go very close if she takes to hurdling. Her current price of 4.216/5 is just about right.
Stoneham could be the main danger. She was hopelessly outclassed at Cheltenham by Lily Waugh last month. This is certainly easier, and is not without a chance based on her victory at Sedgfield last October.
15:10 Newbury - Willoughby Hedge
Willoughby Hedge is worth another chance in this competitive handicap chase.
This talented individual attempted to overcome a two year absence when falling behind Imagine The Chat on his chase debut over this course last month. He was in second place when coming to grief five fences from home. Hopefully he has had enough time to recover and put his best foot forward today.
I think he has a future over the larger obstacles and should go close with a clear round.
He is currently trading at a reasonable 3.55 on the exchange.
Goodtoknow is not without a chance. He has winning form in testing conditions and his latest run is best forgotten.
In addition the stable is in super form.
