Alan Dudman hit the target with My Reward on Monday, and he is hoping to add another winner or two with his selections from Salisbury for today's card...
"That Newbury contest throws up a horse that stays 1m4f, and Cacophonous shaped as though he will enjoy the extra yardage today - especially at Salisbury."
Scimitar to relish the extra yardage
There's no flash story here in backing Scimitar. He produced a much-improved effort to finish third last time on handicap debut and this race will not take a lot of winning.
That latest effort came over Wolverhampton's 6f behind an improving type in a low grade. Scimitar wasn't quick enough for the trip there, and he shaped as though he will enjoy the extra yardage over a stiffer track today.
Despite the better run, the handicapper has dropped him 2lb. He also retains the tongue tie.
Make a noise by backing Menuisier
This looks a good race with the likes of Saeed bin Suroor, Roger Charlton and Mark Johnston fielding runners for the 1m4f maiden. It has the potential to throw up a fair horse.
For that reason, I am siding with Cacophonous for David Menuisier.
Not only does a have a fine pedigree (and a costly one too), he has shaped well in both runs to date. He was green and inexperienced on debut at Nottingham, but enjoyed the step
up in trip to 1m2f at Newbury next time in a traditionally very strong race .
