Bets Of The Day: Sunshine to be coaxed home in Lingfield finale
Lingfield stage seven races on their Tuesday card, and Alan Dudman is looking at two of them with his latest selections on the all-weather...
"He's the sort of horse that needs to be switched off to be delivered late, and he's not been running too badly this winter with a couple of good efforts behind the "win machine" Spare Parts."
Let's go for Sandfrankskipsgo
14:00 Lingfield - Back Sandfrankskipsgo @ [11.0]
Peter Crate trained a bit of a favourite of mine in Picansort, and I am hoping the yard can strike with Sandfrankskipsgo over 5f.
The obvious starting point with the veteran is a career low mark, and considering he was priced at 9/1 on the Sportsbook last night, he looks worth an interest.
He's had three runs back this winter, and he's been a little bit unlucky in two of them over course and distance back in December. He was too wide in one, and the other behind Roundabout Magic, he was a little short of room. But that's Lingfield, as it's a track where you often need a break.
I can forgive his latest effort in an apprentice race at Chelmsford, as you can often put a line through a run at that Essex venue.
Crate's sprinter might need 6f these days as he can get a little outpaced, so Ask The Guru is an important horse here to make the running. From a rating of 60 and down in grade, he can go well.
Rising can be a ray of sunshine for Raybould
17:00 Lingfield - Back Rising Sunshine @ [4.50]
With plenty of small field races on the card, we'll have a go at the Apprentice Handicap at 17:00.
Jockey Kerrie Raybould seems to get on well with tricky horses with her handful of winners to date, and I am hoping she can earn another on Tuesday. She delivered the notoriously difficult Indian Affair to win at Wolverhampton recently - and he's a horse who really needs to time his challenge to perfection.
Raybould also excelled when scoring on Rising Sunshine over Lingfield's 7f in January - and the two can combine for another success over a furlong extra today.
He's the sort of horse that needs to be switched off to be delivered late, and he's not been running too badly this winter with a couple of good efforts behind the "win machine" Spare Parts. In fact he travelled quite well in one of those, and for such a lowly-rated runner, he might travel better than his mark of 48.
