Nick Shiambouros hopes to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a couple of winners from Haydock and Carlisle...
"If she puts her best foot forward she should easily dispose of this field"
16:10 Haydock - Peach Melba
Peach Melba should prove difficult to beat in this maiden.
This filly finished third to Top Mission at Chelmsford City earlier this month. She veered to the left inside the final furlong, but was not beaten all that far. This is the second time she has raced erratically, and does not appear to be entirely straightforward. She does have ability though, and it is interesting that trainer Mark Johnston turns her out quickly. If she puts her best foot forward she should easily dispose of this field. At present she is trading at 3.02/1 on the exchange.
Benjamin Thomas is the obvious danger. He was narrowly beaten in a Pontefract maiden last month after holding every chance. This was the fourth time he has been defeated at a short price, which gives cause for concern. His conditioner tries the visor today, presumably to help him focus. He is currently trading at 3.052/1.
18:10 Carlisle - Ellthea
I am going to take a chance with Ellthea in this interesting contest.
This Kodiac filly created a favourable impression on debut when finishing fourth to Out Of The Flames at Windsor last month. She missed the break, but put in some good work in the closing stages. I think she will be suited by the stiffer course and has every right to improve. She is currently trading at 6.86/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Wirral Girl merits consideration. She was an expensive breeze-up purchase in the spring and comes from a decent family. Trainer Richard Fahey should have her primed and ready to go. She rates as the main danger and is fairly priced at 3.412/5 on the exchange.
