No joy for Alan Dudman yesterday with his two selections. He heads to Kempton for Tuesday afternoon, and has picked out a smooth travelling type at a big price, along with an Ed Walker handicap runner...
"Her opening mark of 70 doesn't look too stiff, especially given that her best effort so far has come around here. She was 33/1 that day and completely blew the start - but she ran on very strongly from a long way off the pace."
The Pam Sly angle didn't work at Windsor yesterday - as Eskendash could only finish third. I'm sticking with the trainer again for Kempton, and Spinart is of great interest.
Firstly, if you like to lay and use Keep Bets to attack at low prices, Spinart could be the one. He was matched at 1.33 in-play at Pontefract last time out, and two runs at Nottingham over 1m2f earlier in the summer saw him done at 1.11 and 1.2. You could say he has history.
He clearly has a chance in this, and he is worth a bet at 12/1 outright on the Sportsbook.
I liked his run at Nottingham in July off a mark of 65. He absolutely tanked through that race and looked all over the winner. I'm taking the view he might not have stayed the trip there. Likewise at Pontfefract recently - the 1m on soft ground might have just caught him out.
He might just need more of a test of speed, and with a switch to the all-weather again (first on Polytrack), I am expecting him to travel with a bit of style - he certainly moved smoothly enough at Nottingham to suggest he is better than a 60s horse.
Ed Walker's Miss Liguria caught the eye in quite a fashion over course and distance back in July, and she can go well again at Kempton for her handicap debut.
You can back her at 6/1 on the Sportsbook.

We can excuse her run last time out at Chester. The pace appeared sound, but the ground had a bit of soft in it, and there's always the tight turns of the Roodeye as a potential negatron.
The trip is fine, and she's related to plenty of good horses that ran in these silks. The likes of Miss Cap Estel, St Jean Cap Ferrat and Miss Corniche feature in the pedigree, so I am hoping Miss Liguira can add to the family roll of honour.
