Bets Of The Day: Dash can land the cash for Sly at Windsor

Can Eskendash and B Fifty Two finish in front on Monday?
Can Eskendash and B Fifty Two finish in front on Monday?

Alan Dudman failed to hit the target at Pontefract yesterday. He starts the new week in search of success with two win selections at Thirsk and Windsor...

"He's been off the track for 91 days since then, so maybe a problem came to light. I am happy to give him another chance for a yard going well."

15:45 Thirsk - Mark enticing for Fife's sprinter

I have tipped B Fifty Two before in the column, and I cannot let him go today off such an attractive mark.

His last win came when he was running off a rating of 96, and he's now pitching into this handicap from 72. His trainer Marjorie Fife has also ditched the blinkers, and goes for the cheekpieces with the tongue-tie for today. Let's see if he can improve with those.

He wouldn't be an obvious one to back from his latest run behind Cliff at Carlisle on their Ladies' Night - a race in which he was ridden too aggressively, but he is of great interest from his third at York the start before in a similar sort of grade.

His mark is in freefall, but a big field over the 5f should help him. He has form over further, and he can travel well given the right conditions, so with a pace to run at on good ground, he is worth an interest. He wouldn't mind a bit of rain either, but the forecast isn't forthcoming.

17:50 Windsor - Sly handicapper to show some dash

Trainer Pam Sly's horses are running well, in fact, she's collected two winners, three seconds and two thirds from the last seven sent out from her yard. Sly has a potentially well handicapped four-year-old in the shape of Eskendash at Windsor on Monday evening.

Back him at around 5.04/1.

Previously he was a bumper horse with Peter Niven, and had a seconditis spell in that sphere. However, switched to the Flat he has looked progressive. He won a Kempton Maiden earlier in the year, and then was pitched in to a course and distance handicap and ran really well behind Shargiah - most definitely a horse on the upgrade.

Eskendash missed the break badly in that but still finished second from a mark of 77.

His final start came at Leicester when he was a well backed favourite. Unfortunately he ran poorly with his end position - but he travelled quite well to a point.

He's been off the track for 91 days since then, so maybe a problem came to light. I am happy to give him another chance for a yard going well.
