For the next seven days with some great racing ahead, Alan Dudman is back for his week of tipping. He starts at Chelmsford on Friday with two horses on the evening card worth a look at decent odds...

"The selection has been big prices for her three starts to date; 40/1, 20/1 and 10/1 last time - so there is a bit more to come from a three-year-old taking on her elders."

20:15 Chelmsford - Back Waarif @ 15/2

David O'Meara's Waarif looked a little unlucky last time at Newcastle - and it's been a common theme with this horse from his last couple of runs as he keeps missing the break. His trainer has gone for the cheekpieces this evening in a bid to eradicate that, and he is worth one more chance in this 1m handicap.

He has been backed into favouritism for his two latest outings, and he's certainly up to winning in this 0-85 grade considering he flew home to finish third eight days ago. I also liked his comeback run after 15 months off the track at Newcastle back in October.

The mark of 80 shouldn't be beyond him, and he hasn't been with the yard long following his 23,000 guineas switch from Ireland.

Drawn in 8, he is right next to the potentially most exciting horse in the field; and that's Samharry. At 5/2, that horse is too short considering he has been off the track for 498 days - but he looked good in winning his maiden at Doncaster.

I am hoping the headgear wakes up Waarif, especially with him coming down two furlongs in trip to 1m. Money came for him on the Sportsbook on Thursday night, and he was cut from 9/1 to 15/2.

21:15 Chelmsford - Back Nevalyashka @ 10/1

This 0-70 handicap might be a long way down the pecking order in terms of the class on show today - especially with the jumping action at Newbury. However, we can get 10/1 on the Sportsbook for Nevalyashka, and she showed a little bit of promise at Wolverhampton last time.

In fact, that maiden looked fairly good for the time of year, and the race had one or two nice sorts in it. Nevalyashka was dropping down from 1m4f to 1m2f for that race, and whilst she was chopped for a bit of speed, she ran with a bit of ability. She is now going handicapping from a low mark of 67.

This contest doesn't look particularly strong either, especially with my old mate Thaqaffa in the line up!

The selection has been quite big in price for her three starts to date; 40/1, 20/1 and 10/1 last time - so there is a bit more to come from a three-year-old taking on her elders.

Other plus points are that Sir Percy's offspring stay well and are as genuine as they come, whilst her pedigree is chocked-full of all-weather winners. My one fear is whether she wants further, but they get racing early at Chelmsford as the track suits front runners, and from her draw in 6, hopefully she can stay in contention.
