Alan Dudman tipped four winners in his previous stint and returns to kick-start his seven days in the chair with two bets for Friday's action at Thirsk and Wolverhampton.....
"He didn't run too badly at Newcastle recently in first-time cheekpieces, so hopefully he can go close from a mark he is capable of winning from."
Dods to fire in a winner with Dakota
16:45 Thirsk - Back Dakota Gold @ BSP
Trainer Michael Dods went agonisingly close with Dakota Gold in the Great St Wilfrid when last seen - and he can make amends for that second with victory here.
It was a fine effort at Ripon in a strong handicap, as he turned out to be on the wrong side of the track. The winner Gunmetal, flew home on the stands' side.
However, it was very much a return to form for the horse. He is still well-handicapped from 91 considering he started the season off 100 and the trainer's horses have been in good form in August.
Good ground suits, he should go well at a track he has won it in the past.
Quirky sort worth another go at Dunstall Park
17:35 Wolverhampton - Back Grey Destiny @ BSP
I am happy to give another chance to the temperamental Grey Destiny. We know the score with him; he often misses the break with his customary slow start but he is well treated.
It was another case of what could have been last time. Over course and distance, he got going very late as the gaps didn't come.
He needs a fast pace to run at, and there is plenty here. Smugglers Creek can force the speed, so can Sarangoo and Christmas Night.
The draw is irrelevant to him in 9, as he'll have to be dropped in anyway and wait for room. He didn't run too badly at Newcastle recently in first-time cheekpieces, so hopefully he can go close from a mark he is capable of winning from.
