Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with two selections from Oaks day at Epsom...

"I believe she is open to significant improvement and should make her presence felt in this mouthwatering race"

15:10 Epsom - Journey

Journey should go close in this fascinating contest.

This high class performer ended last season with an impressive win in the British Champion Fillies and Mares at Ascot last October. She took the lead a furlong from home, and pulled clear to win in great style. This is her toughest assignment to date, but I do not think we have seen the best of this talented mare. She clearly has more to offer and is fairly priced at 6.25/1 on the exchange.

Highland Reel is the favourite at 2.962/1. This smart five-year-old finished down the field behind Jack Hobbs in a valuable Group 1 at Meydan in March. He was headed two furlongs from home, and quickly weakened out of contention. He has the form in the book to take this, but is too short in the market in my opinion.

16:30 Epsom - Enable

Enable is taken to upset the short priced favourite in this historic race.

This filly put in a much improved effort when beating Alluringly in the Yorkshire Oaks at Chester last month. She hit the front three furlongs from home, and stretched out nicely to score with plenty in hand. I believe she is open to significant improvement and should make her presence felt in this mouthwatering race. She is currently trading at 9.08/1 on the exchange and have backed her at that price.

Rhododendron is the odds-on favourite at 1.8810/11. This beautifully bred filly finished a closing second to Winter in the 1,000 Guineas at HQ last month. She met a little interference two furlongs from home but ran on well in the closing stages and finished the race with good energy. She deserves her position at the head of the market and is clearly the one they all have to beat.

Daddys Lil Darling is well worth a mention. This Ken McPeek filly finished second in the Kentucky Oaks behind Abel Tasman last month. This was an excellent effort, and could sneak in to a place if handling Epsom.
