Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with a couple of selections from the meeting at Ascot...
"This appears to be a perfect opportunity for her to get back to winning ways"
15:30 Ascot - Irish Rookie
Irish Rookie should take all the beating in this interesting Listed event.
This Azamour filly finished fourth to Alice Springs in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at the July meeting at HQ. She was collared inside the final furlong, and faded to finish out of the money. I thought that was a super effort from this talented individual.
She has been highly tried in the past, and has cracked heads with some of the best fillies and mares in Europe. This appears to be a perfect opportunity for her to get back to winning ways.
She is trading at 2.56/4 on the exchange and I have backed her at that price.
Mix And Mingle is the obvious danger. This lightly raced individual has not been seen since finishing down the field behind Minding in the 1,000 Guineas at HQ in May.
She may have more to offer, and comes in to this race a fresh horse.
16:35 Ascot - Stepper Point
Stepper Point is worth an interest in the place market in this competitive sprint.
This gelding put in a much improved effort last time out when finishing eighth to Royal Birth over this course earlier this month. He held every chance a furlong from home, but was found wanting in the closing stages. He was not beaten all that far, and this performance may be an indication that he is returning to form.
Last year he lowered the colours of Mecca's Angel in a Group 2 event at the Curragh. I am not brave enough to back him in the win market but should be considered at around 4.57/2 for a place.
Robot Boy is the current favourite at 7.413/2. He was caught near the line when finishing second to Royal Birth over this course earlier this month and has solid claims.
