Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with two strong fancies from Doncaster and Sandown...
"His astute conditioner steps him up in trip today and I do not think he will disappoint"
14:30 Doncaster - Stanley
Stanley could run well at a decent price in this interesting maiden.
This Sea The Stars colt caught the eye on debut when finishing fourth to Autocratic at Sandown last month. He ran on well in the closing stages despite showing signs of inexperience, and finished the race willingly.
I think he is open to a fair bit of improvement and should go close. At present he is trading at 8.415/2 on the exchange which is more than fair. It is also worth noting that the owners are sponsoring this race.
The current favourite Great Glen is trading at 4.3100/30. This gelding finished down the field in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot last year. He will no doubt find this much easier, but has been off the course for a while and may just need this.
16:00 Sandown - Gm Hopkins
This looks like an ideal opportunity for Gm Hopkins to get back to winning ways.
This Dubawi gelding could never land a blow behind Portage in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last month. He met a fair bit of interference two furlongs from home, and lost any chance of troubling the judge.
This likeable individual was not disgraced behind Belardo in the Lockinge at Newbury, which reads well in the context of this race. His astute conditioner steps him up in trip today and I do not think he will disappoint.
He is trading at 2.767/4 on the exchange and I have backed him at this price.
Ayrad is the obvious danger. This five-year-old has some decent form in Group company, but I suspect this trip may be a little on the short side for him.
