Alan picks out bets for Tuesday's racing, and his two selections are running at Wetherby and Wolverhampton...
"He has certainly improved for the cheekpieces in two of his last three starts. We can put a line through one effort as he went off too hard."
Back Diamond Reflection @ 9.08/1 in the 19:00 at Wolverhampton
Back the Brigadier for success in Yorkshire
16:00 Wetherby - Back Brigadier Bob 8.808/1
Trainer Kerry Lee has had a fairly quiet season, but she could be about to hit a run of form. I am hoping so anyway, following a couple of seconds and a win for the yard over the weekend.
She sends Brigadier Bob for this low grade handicap hurdle, and not many in this field are likely to improve.
Bob had a bit of ability in bumpers and shaped reasonably well in a handicap at Uttoxeter when finishing second. He was outpaced badly in that over the 2m, so the extra distance over 2m4f will suit him far better - especially in a bigger field.
The ground is a complete unknown as he has raced only in soft conditions, but I am happy to take a chance on that given the price and the standard of the race.
Diamond can light up Dunstall Park with a win
19:00 Wolverhampton - Back Diamond Reflection @ 9.08/1
The card at Wolverhampton on Tuesday is a tough one, and I'm not trying to get the excuses in early. Honest.
This 1m2f contest is a low grade handicap but it could be worth sticking with Diamond Reflection at decent odds as he is in fairly good nick at the moment and acts at the track.
He dropped down to a 1m last time at Lingfield in a similar sort of grade, but that might not be his ideal trip as he holds winning form over course and distance from early January. He has certainly improved for the cheekpieces in two of his last three starts. We can put a line through one effort as he went off too hard.
A decent draw always helps and he is berthed in 1.
