Alan Dudman signs off from his seven days at the tiller with his final two bets of the week, and he is hoping Godolphin are going to be amongst the winners at Lingfield on Thursday...
"Expressionism has a lot to find with the more experienced Delphinia, but fillies can often bridge the gap quickly jumping up in grade."
Murphy and Saeed can form the winning partnership
13:55 Lingfield - Back Major Partnership @ 10.519/2
I am a bit of a sucker for a Saeed bin Suroor handicapper - and Major Partnership has lured me in at Lingfield on Thursday at a decent price. You can back him at around 10.519/2. Hopefully this selection will be handier placed than the two at Kempton yesterday, as both of the picks got going very late.
He's only had one outing this season, and that came last month at Ascot, which was his first start since Meydan in March. He didn't fire at all in that race over 6f, but it looked as though the run was needed.
Major Partnership reportedly shows a fair bit of speed in his work, and with winning form at 1m, today's trip over 7f should be ideal - especially if he can break out from his inside draw in two under one of the best front-running riders around in Oisin Murphy.
In fact, this horse looked progressive last year and could be an ideal sort of Lingfield horse with his "sit handy and quicken up" style.
If he makes the running, there's clearly a good opportunity to trade him as a back-to-lay given his decent price. Click here to find out more about trading on the Exchange.
You can back him at 10.09/1 and plan to lay off the stake at around 5.04/1 if those tactics are employed.
Godolphin runner overpriced against O'Brien fav
15:35 Lingfield - Back Expressionism @ 8.6015/2
We're sticking with Murphy and the blue colours of Godolphin again in one of the features, and I am hoping Charlie Appleby's Expressionism can hit the target in this Listed 1m5f race.
It's a bit of a mixed bag in terms of the opposition, although the one to be feared is Delphinia, who adds a bit of lustre to the card from Aidan O'Brien's yard. But I cannot be backing her at around 1.774/5.
And Lingfield is a track that throws up plenty of hard luck stories.
Expressionism has a lot to find with the more experienced Delphinia, but fillies can often bridge the gap quickly jumping up in grade.
The big plus in backing the selection is that she looks an out-and-out stayer. She won on her second start last time at Kempton over 1m4f - and relished the extra distance following her debut. She was still a bit green, but looks to have plenty of stamina. A further furlong this afternoon will help.
