Bets Of The Day: Local History to make her mark at Kempton

Kempton all-weather
Can Alan find a winner at Kempton on Wednesday evening?

It's Alan Dudman's penultimate day, and he has bets at Kempton and Salisbury to follow, including one in the feature Bibury Cup...

"She finished third to Wedding Date at the track in November, and that horse has come out this season to win handicaps at York and Newmarket from 80 and 86."

Varian can land the money in feature

16:20 Salisbury - Back Apparate @ 11/2 Sportsbook price

The Bibury Cup at Salisbury is a cracker of a race for midweek, and with Carlisle staging their big day too, we are in for a treat for a Wednesday. It will be even better if we can grab a winner in the feature.

Some big yards are represented for this 3yo handicap, and with all manner of improving types, it's a bit tricky to work out who will rise the quickest.

Step forward Roger Varian's Apparate. You can back him at 11/2 with the Sportsbook.

He held Dante and Derby entries earlier in the season, but he was unruly and played up in his first two starts, so there was absolutely no chance of handling those sort of tests early in his career.

However, he was much better on his third outing when last seen, and he made all the running to win at Newmarket over 1m2f. Some big yards were represented in that race and he seemed to appreciate the quicker ground.

His opening mark of 83 is not prohibitive considering he clearly has been held in a bit of regard with the lofty entries, and the step up in trip to 1m4f at a track like Salisbury should suit as he is bred to stay.

It's a good race and and he'll have to be decent to win this.

Filly looks on a good mark for handicap bow

19:20 Kempton - Back Local History @ 4.03/1

James Tate's filly Local History goes handicapping for the first time from 70 at Kempton in the evening, and that could be a nice mark judged on her run behind Wedding Date as a juvenile last term.

She finished third to Wedding Date at the track in November, and that horse has come out this season to win handicaps at York and Newmarket from 80 and 86.

Local History won on her reappearance at Yarmouth with a positive ride over 6f. She was driven out in that race to suggest the extra furlong might suit, something which connections hinted at following the victory.

She's clearly unexposed and has a decent draw in 4, and her half-sister also won on the all-weather.
