It's time for Consequences at Catterick
15:30 Catterick - Back Consequences @ 10.09/1
There's a fair bit of speed on here, as you would expect for a 6f dash around Catterick. The two horses drawn 1 and 2 (Zumund and Dizzy G) both like to bounce out and lead, so I am hoping they can set it up for a fast-finisher.
The "closer" being Consequences, and he is the bet here at decent odds. He was 9/1 to back on the Sportsbook last night.
Last time at York he was hampered at the start, and I can readily forgive any run at that track. He did perform quite well in similar sort of grade at Doncaster earlier in the season. He was forced wide, but he wasn't beaten too far behind Brian The Snail. Any sort of replication of that effort could see him go close.
He is also running from a dangerous mark these days. Last term he was rated 90, today he runs from 77 for trainer Ian Williams.
King's outsider has claims at big price
19:55 Wolverhampton - Back Inn The Bull each-way @ 14/1 Sportsbook price
The obvious one to take for the race is David Simcock's Desert Friend. He looked a useful juvenile last term and makes his first appearance of the season. That is a bit of a negative, and so is the price at 5/4.
I like the look of Alan King's Inn The Bull at decent odds, and a return to Wolverhampton can hopefully get him back in form.
He's been lacklustre of late in that area over the jumps, but he's a horse that loves the all-weather surface at Dunstall Park. He took to it really well last year and won a couple of races from marks of 68 and 75. He looked progressive at that sort of level, and one of the victories was over 1m6f - slightly further than today's 1m4f distance.
Usually held up, he can travel well and we know he'll stay. His mark has eased down from 86 to 80 and he can play a part here.
