A run of three successive seconds beaten in-running at 1.705/7, 1.538/15 and 1.814/5 has left Alan Dudman frustrated. He throws in a place lay and a win for Tuesday's racing at Epsom and Goodwood...
"He was fast away from a bad draw at Pontefract last time out, but wasn't beaten far there. Yeeoow has raced at the track before and seemed to handle it well, so hopefully he can end his drought on Tuesday."
14:00 Epsom - Get in on the act by laying Freedom
The 7f nursery to kick off Tuesday's card at Epsom looks quite competitive - if fairly low grade stuff, and I'm not sure I want to take around 5/2 or shorter on Godolphin's Act Of Freedom. He's probably got the factor of his connections involved in his price - as he looks quite moderate.
In three runs to date all over 6f, he has been comfortably held in the trio of maiden starts. The juvenile has never traded shorter in-play than 3.052/1. This tells us he has never really looked like winning.
The two-year-old was last seen at Windsor, and on that evidence he should enjoy the step up in trip today, as things happened a bit too quickly for him. That race wasn't the greatest though, with the favourite under-performing. The fourth has since been beaten out of sight (at Epsom), whilst the seventh nearly finished last at Chelmsford.
The grey has an initial mark of 71, which backs up the viewing of his race catalogue; he could be moderate. And he looked just that on his second start at Doncaster.
The gelding operation might spark some improvement, but he has to handle the track. There's enough in this field to take him on in the place market here - and I'll look at around 1.402/5.
16:45 Goodwood - Yeeoow to purr on the Sussex downs
This looks the easiest race that Yeeoow has been in for some time, and he possesses something I like - running in a weaker grade, and from a well-treated mark.
Rewind to May 2016, Yeeoow started the season at Newmarket appearing in a Class 2, £28,000 handicap, from a mark of 85 (and he finished fourth). He also performed with credit in a hot race at Ascot in which Misterioso won. And for final good measure from his efforts this season; he ran well in a strong Yarmouth sprint where Charlie Hills' Elronaq finished second. So he's been in deeper than today, and Elronaq would hammer this lot.
Karl Burke's seven-year-old is running from a mark of 80 - and that is attractive.
The veteran can also lead, and going through his rivals, he could well have an easy time of things up front. He was fast away from a bad draw at Pontefract last time out, but wasn't beaten far there. Yeeoow has raced at the track before and seemed to handle it well, so hopefully he can end his drought on Tuesday.
I thought 5.409/2 overnight was a fairly large price for a runner who might have the run of the race.
