Bets Of The Day: Land will be a legend if he wins on handicap debut

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor
Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor could win the 16:25 at Newmarket with Land Of Legends

"The 3yo made no mistake from the front to score easily at Kempton earlier this month, and a front-runner at Newmarket is a plus. As is the quick going."

Back Land Of Legends @ 3.4012/5 in the 16:25 at Newmarket

Local History lost out yesterday for Alan, and was matched in defeat at 1.121/8 in-play. He rounds off his latest tipping stint with two bets at Newmarket...

Stick with the red-hot Meade yard and Isolate

14:45 Newmarket - Back Isolate each-way @ 8/1 Sportsbook price

Yesterday's defeat for Local History was a painful one, any defeat is. But getting chinned at 1.121/8 was a real hammer blow. Hopefully one can get across the line in front for my final instalment for this week.

Trainer Martyn Meade is red-hot at the moment. Group 1 success at Royal Ascot with Advertise really highlighted how his yard has bounced back to full health. From his last eight runners, four have won.

I will be backing Meade's Isolate for his handicap debut as he looks well treated on one piece of form at Salisbury. He finished third behind Eagles Of Day - who subsequently boosted the form with a fine run at Ascot last week against Japan. That horse is now rated in the 90s, whilst the second and fourth have both added to the scoresheet from that race.

Isolate's mark looks a good one from 74, and a switch to quicker ground will suit as he didn't really act in the soft last time. Plus he was ridden a little too aggressively. With the eight runners he also represents a nice each-way bet.

Legends can score on his home patch for Suroor

16:25 Newmarket - Back Land Of Legends @ 3.4012/5

Saeed bin Suroor's Land Of Legends makes his handicap debut from 91 on Thursday, and he is the selection for a decent-looking 7f handicap.

He made his debut in a warm Yarmouth contest behind King Of Comedy, but subsequently appeared not to get home over a mile on his next run.

The 3yo made no mistake from the front to score easily at Kempton earlier this month, and a front-runner at Newmarket is a plus. As is the quick going.

As the youngest in the field he receives plenty of weight too. The form of his Kempton success has also been boosted this week with the second Mutamaasik winning.
