Bets Of The Day: Dowayla set to impress at Wolverhampton

Alan is hoping to see success with the blue colours of Godolphin on Thursday

Alan Dudman drew a blank yesterday, but is signing off with his week in profit, and he has picked out two bets for Thursday's afternoon action...

"Dowayla still holds a Ribblesdale entry for Royal Ascot and she looks nicely treated for her handicap debut here from 84. The draw isn't ideal in 11, but I am happy to give her another chance following a fine maiden win."

15:50 Wolverhampton - Saeed to warm up for big weekend with win

It may seem my "go-to man" is Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor at Wolverhampton and that's the way I am leaning with his unexposed filly Dowayla - she is the pick here at 9.08/1.

The daughter of Sepoy looked head and shoulders above her rivals when scoring on debut in a Nottingham maiden last term. She was well-backed that day and appeared extremely clued-up for her first run. Whilst it is not always the easiest to gauge physiques from a TV screen, she looked mighty powerful and a lot bigger than some of her rivals that day.

Her second run last term came at Pontefract and she was upped in class to Listed level. She was a big disappointment behind D'bai that day, but a potential excuse could have been the soft ground.

Dowayla still holds a Ribblesdale entry for Royal Ascot and she looks nicely treated for her handicap debut here from 84. The draw isn't ideal in 11, but I am happy to give her another chance following a fine maiden win.

16:30 Hamilton - Smith's Haymarket runs off attractive mark

Mike Smith's Haymarket runs from his lowest-ever mark on Thursday, and if the forecast rain arrives, he is worth a go at 11/1.

Granted, you might need a bit of faith with this horse as he doesn't exactly score too often, but this race is massively open and the selection is very well treated running from a rating of just 49. This time last year he raced from 70.

His last outing came at Newcastle back in January, and he didn't fare too badly. He was held up in that race, but I think he's better with a handier ride. Also quite a few still had chances late on there and it looked a messy affair.

Haymarket goes well at Hamilton with a record of 23400, with the placed efforts both coming from rides near the pace. His trainer has struck with a couple of winners lately - notably Gworn who has won twice.

He also stays very well and has form over further - ideal for this track.
