Bets Of The Day: Fahey's Paramount set for a big run at Hamilton

Paul Hanagan
Jockey Paul Hanagan is in action on Sunday, and he rides Paramount Love at Hamilton

Alan Dudman heads to Hamilton on Sunday and picks out two bets for the afternoon's action...

"She didn't really get home at Nottingham last time, but that was a much stronger race than today's, so a drop down in class is another positive."

Back Paramount Love @ 5.04/1 in the 16:10 at Hamilton

Mark looks a good one for Wensley to strike

14:00 Hamilton - Back Wensley @ 4.507/2

The opener at Hamilton isn't a particularly strong affair, so for that reason it is worth siding with Wensley. He is too well handicapped to ignore.

His overall win record is poor; with just one victory from 11 starts, but he takes a drop in class for this 6f handicap with the cheekpieces on for the first time.

Recently he put up a better showing at Carlisle, and the assessor has dropped him another 4lb. He started the season from 75, and was rated 85 at one point last term. From 63 today, he has to go close.

Paramount to love conditions in Scotland

16:10 Hamilton - Back Paramount Love @ 5.04/1

Soft ground is key to Paramount Love, and in a winnable race, she looks a fair bet at around 5.04/1.

Richard Fahey's filly has been running over 1m2f recently, but hasn't really convinced with her stamina. She didn't get home at Nottingham last time, but that was a much stronger race than today's, so a drop down in class is another positive.

She bolted up from the front earlier in the season at Colwick Park (by over four lengths), and she showed the ability to quicken again in the closing stages on that occasion.

I expect her to lead, but conditions are most important here as she likes the mud.
