Alan Dudman looks at the Kelso card on Sunday and is backing horses trained by Martin Todhunter and Rose Dobbin...
"This will be his first run in a handicap from 114 and first opportunity at around 2m6f, so it most certainly wasn't the trip that beat him at Sedgefield last time."
Talk can grab the gold for Todhunter
14:00 Kelso - Back Talkofgold @ 7.06/1
Jumps' stallion Gold Well seems to be producing horses that stay forever, and that's the thinking with Martin Todhunter's Talkofgold in this 2m7f Handicap Chase.
The 7yo needs to improve a fair bit following her victory at Hexham in heavy ground last time, but her stamina is such an asset, she's not without a chance in this.
The Hexham win came from a mark of 102 and she's only gone up 3lb.
She is stepping up in trip for Sunday and is lightly-raced over fences with just four starts. Running from an extremely low weight and receiving plenty from her rivals, she looks an interesting bet considering soft and heavy suits too.
Dobbin's prospect to be backed for handicap debut
14:35 Kelso - Back Do Not Disturb @ 8.07/1
Rose Dobbin's Do Not Disturb looked a nice prospect when he landed a Maiden Hurdle at Kelso earlier in the season and he gets the opportunity to bounce back following a poor effort when last seen at Sedgefield.
He was upped to 2m4f for that latest start, but never gave his running. He's had one or two problems in the past, so maybe we can attribute that below-par effort to an inability to put together a couple of runs back-to-back.
This will be his first run in a handicap from 114 and first opportunity at around 2m6f, so it most certainly wasn't the trip that beat him at Sedgefield last time.
Brian Hughes is booked and a return to Kelso is clearly a plus.
