No-nonsense Munro can win again at Catterick
14:30 Catterick - Back Schiehallion Munro @ 3.4549/20
This week has been a good one so far with some decent prices scoring, but Wednesday looks a trickier day and I'll be playing a little closer to the top of the market at Catterick in the 14:30, but I am quite a fan of Schiehallion Munro.
And not just because he's by that great Godolphin horse Schiaparelli. I've always got the blue hat on!
The selection is a no-nonsense performer and I was really taken with his win on chasing debut over course and distance earlier in the season. He scored by six lengths and had 130 and 138-rated horses well beaten in behind.
He has since scored again over the minimum trip at Newcastle, but I think he's best at around 2m4f, as he looks as though he might stay a little further.
Any surface suits, but his best display came on good to soft at the track, and with a similar set of circumstances, I think he'll be a pretty hard horse to pass. He's a good, solid jumper too and is still on a fair mark of 131 for his handicap debut.
Sheriff looks the one to hit the high notes in feature
14:50 Lingfield - Back Singing Sheriff @ 4.67/2
With just four runners, the feature 0-105 1m2f handicap might not be everyone's cup of tea, but with the potential to become a tactical race, I'm chancing Ed Walker's Singing Sheriff away from the top of the market.
Victory Bond will go off favourite, and he should, as he's rated 104 and is a very handy horse.
However, Singing Sheriff arrives into the race off a personal best win at Wolverhampton, and he could be the sort of horse who is now putting it all together.
Often keen in races, he should have more wins next to his name. However, his turn of foot has always been an asset, and that burst of acceleration could be potent with just three other rivals. Especially around Lingfield, as that slingshot breakaway from the turn could really play to his strengths.
He's fairly consistent on the all-weather and should go close.
