Bets Of The Day: Smith and McLintock the trainers to follow at Sedgefield

National Hunt racing
Alan sticks with the jumps' action on Tuesday and he's looking for his third winner of the week

Kemble scored easily by five lengths yesterday at Windsor to give Alan Dudman a 4.03/1 winner. His two bets for Tuesday are both running at Sedgefield...

"Add to that he's a solid jumper who battles with a tenacious attitude. His price of around 6.05/1 to 7.06/1 makes plenty of appeal in a winnable race."

Back Iskabeg Lane @ 6.205/1 in the 16:40 Sedgefield

Zabeel can be a star with victory over hurdles

14:10 Sedgefield - Back Zabeel Star @ 3.7511/4

The Flat cards make little appeal on Tuesday, so it's jumping at Sedgefield for the first of the bets today.

Karen McLintock's Zabeel Star lines up in this Handicap Hurdle at 14:10, and he looks extremely well treated here from 98 given his ability on the Flat.

He travels like a horse who is ahead of his mark too, as advertised when successful at Carlisle last October from 89, a race he won by six lengths and beat a 107-rated rival further back into third.

With a lightly-raced profile over hurdles, there should be more to come at today's sort of level. The conditions should be perfect if the ground is good, as he's a horse who wouldn't want the going to be too soft. The forecast is for a bright and dry day.

Smith chaser looks a big price in small field

16:40 Sedgefield - Back Iskabeg Lane @ 6.205/1

I am looking to a trainer I often turn to in the north for a winner - step forward Sue Smith.

Her chaser Iskabeg Lane is probably at the uppermost limit of his chance to win a race from his rating, but this is a small field chase and not a particularly strong one. It's all about picking your battles, and he can go well here.

We have to ignore a poor run at Newcastle last time, but that was a quick turnaround from his Market Rasen win, and he's had 38 days to freshen up since.

The ground is fine and he likes to make the running (which should be handy in a small field). Add to that he's a solid jumper who battles with a tenacious attitude. His price of around 6.05/1 to 7.06/1 makes plenty of appeal in a winnable race.
