Bets Of The Day: Baker and Bradley to combine for Lingfield success

Alan Dudman started the week well yesterday with a winner - and with action on New Year's Eve at Lingfield, he's hoping to end 2016 on a high with two bets on Saturday...

"Temple Road goes well here, and won at the track with a bit in hand 12 months ago. He is best sitting close to the pace, and he is well-handicapped from 60 today - given he was racing from 73 in December 2015."

14:40 Lingfield - Wrangler the right fit for victory

This looks a pretty good race, and the inclusion of a Godolphin runner (Natural Scenery - who was favourite last night), means we should get a bit of a price on a fairly frustrating customer - Wrangler.

He looked a very promising horse a couple of years ago, but missed the whole of 2015 and had 26 months off the track. His excellent trainer William Haggas has persevered with him, and he does look the type who can land a nice pot one day.

Wrangler has shaped like a stayer, so it was no surprise to see him run over Kempton's 2m in November. He travelled well there, but didn't quite see out the trip. A drop back down to 1m6f last time at Wolverhampton threw up yet another hard luck story - as he was trapped on the inside in a messy affair.

Back at 1m4f today, I'm fascinated to see whether jockey Georgia Cox will force the pace (she also claims 5lb). This represents a drop in class as he's been in some decent handicaps, and there is still some mileage in his rating of 87.

15:45 Lingfield - All roads lead to Milton's Temple

Milton Bradley's Temple Road has shaped well in two starts this December, and he now should be spot on for this 5f handicap.

His veteran trainer is a dab hand with these older speedsters, and Temple Road is dropping in class this afternoon at a venue he clearly likes.

Recently at Wolverhampton he finished third behind a pair that sat close to the pace. He came from further back and was disadvantaged by how the race developed. That was a slightly better affair than today.

Previously he ran in a 0-70 over course and distance at the start of December, and for his first run since July, he looked a touch rusty having missed the break.

Happy New Year everyone.
