Both Alan's selections were backed yesterday and ran well, Innocent Touch trading at 1.351/3 in running but neither produced any return. Today his selections run at Ayr and Lingfield...
"Vallarta won this race for Ruth Carr last year off a mark of 78 today he gets in 6lbs lower than that victory"
Vallarta won this race for Ruth Carr last year off a mark of 78 today he gets in 6lbs lower than that victory. The stable are going well at the minute with a couple of winners and multiple places over the last week and Ayr is often a happy hunting ground for the team. He finished fifth just 12 days ago here but that form was boosted yesterday when two of the horses that finished ahead of him that day came out and won here, Instaab and Classic Seniority.
Stable Jockey James Sullivan gets on well with the horse and was on board for both his wins since moving from the Mick Channon yard a couple of years ago. Conditions look good for Vallarta with three of his four wins coming on good to firm ground and with a couple of confirmed front runners in the field he should be able to track them rather than lead as he tried to do last time.
I am hoping that all eight declared runners make it to the post for this one-and-a-half mile handicap as the 13/2 for Perfect Rhythm looks a shade too big to me and a good each-way bet with three places on offer. Patrick Chaming's five-year-old mare has run at Lingfield three times before and won twice, while those two wins were last year, she has had a 235 day break since then. She only returned in May this year and has only had two starts on turf, today she is back on the polytrack today where she is a much better horse.
Pat Cosgrave is a positive booking and gets the leg up for the first time on the mare. I think at 13/2 she is well worth an each-way investment.
