Bets Of The Day: Snobbery deserves another chance to succeed

Alan Dudman heads to the Midlands on Monday, and is hopeful of a winner or two with a pair of interesting runners on the eight-race card at Wolverhampton....

"This 4yo runs in the Rothschild colours, and is related to the likes of Strut and Mince. He is worth another chance to show himself in a handicap as last time was too bad to be true."

16:00 Wolverhampton - Final roll of the dice with Shoof

This is very much the last attempt at rolling the big Ban Shoof dice, and he's a horse I have put up previously here.

He does have a bit of ability, but he hasn't really kicked on following his victory in a Wolverhampton maiden last year - but he could be better than a character with a career record of one from ten.

His trainer Ismail Mohammed has enjoyed a couple of recent successes on the all-weather; including Pinzolo who landed the feature race at Lingfield on Saturday.

Ban Shoof disappointed at Kempton back in September in a 0-85, and the fact he was subsequently off for three months and made a recent comeback at Dunstall Park suggests he might not have been 100%.

Mohammed has used cheekpieces, blinkers, and a visor. Today he goes for the hood, and as a gelding there's nothing left to go. Armed with a small break and a new distance - it could unlock something from a mark of 73.

His half-brother Educate was quite tricky to train in the early part of his career, so it's time for Ban Shoof to deliver.

16:30 Wolverhampton - Charlton's Snobbery shouldn't be ignored

I tipped Roger Charlton's Rock Steady on Saturday, so it was frustrating he traded at 1.558/15 in-running to finish second. Hopefully the yard can strike with Snobbery today.

He landed a rather poor maiden last month, but he cantered all over his rivals to score by over two lengths - though jockey George Baker would have expended more energy putting his boots on before the race than during it - the success was that easy.

However, he bombed out on handicap debut just 19 days ago, with the trainer citing a breathing problem for the lacklustre effort - and today he wears a tongue tie.

This 4yo runs in the Rothschild colours, and is related to the likes of Strut and Mince. He is worth another chance to show himself in a handicap as last time was too bad to be true.
