Best runner to provide some happy memories with a win
13:45 Lingfield - Back Ignatius @ 4.03/1
With the weather, ground and any possibility of an inspection, I'll be sticking to the all-weather for the two bets of the day.
I am siding with Ignatius who surely can win races from a low mark, and this 0-60 over 1m looks winnable.
He showed nothing in three starts in maidens but displayed a bit more ability in a nursery in December at Kempton. He missed the break and wasn't in the best position in a steadily run race. He did stay on nicely, and from 54, he should be involved.
Gelded since, he runs for trainer John Best, who has started the new year in reasonable form with three winners.
I scored my first ever cricketing hundred against St Ignatius College, so I am hoping this race will be just as memorable.
Scenery can make it third time lucky at Newcastle
18:45 Newcastle - Back Scenery @ 11.010/1
Off to the north east for the second bet of the day, and it's Marjorie Fife's Scenery that interests me the most.
His two previous runs at Newcastle make him an ideal win and place bet at double figures. His Tapeta debut at the track just before Christmas was a solid run in a similar sort of grade. The pace and gallop were both sound, and he kept on well.
Last time, again at Newcastle, he was squeezed for room late on and had plenty of running left.
I like the angle of the step up in trip as she shapes like a stiff 7f might suit. He is well treated too from 58, as he raced previously for Eve Johnson Houghton from marks in the 70s.
This is also a PROMO RACE on the Sportsbook.
