Alan Dudman is backing two horses at Kempton on Wednesday night, and he is hoping trainers James Tate and Saeed bin Suroor can hit the frame with runners...
"After that, she started to settle more in her races, and scored quite nicely at Wolverhampton."
Trip more suitable for Godolphin handicapper
19:45 Kempton - Back Volcanic Sky @ 8.07/1
Saeed bin Suroor's Volcanic Sky might be a target for a few in-running layers for the 19:45, as he's had a few odds-on defeats to his name - including a 1.01 at Chelmsford last season.
That loss came at 1m6f. He was outstayed (just) on his final start at Redcar too, over the same trip (1m6f) having travelled quite smoothly, so the reduced distance tonight at 1m4f is a positive.
He was quite a keen-going 3yo last term, but he's been gelded and this will be his first run since that operation.
With only a handful of starts on the all-weather, he is quite lightly-raced and should take to this surface as a son of Street Cry. The box draw in 1 also helps, and I expect a decent run.
Tate can continue hot run with Camelot Rakti
20:45 Kempton - Back Camelot Rakti @ 9.08/1
Trainer James Tate has been in rattling good form recently, and at the time of writing he had chalked up six winners from just 16 runners at a most impressive 38%.
Boosted by those stats, I am looking forward to seeing how Camelot Rakti fares in the fillies' handicap at 20:45.
It looks open, but the price at around 9.08/1 on the selection makes plenty of appeal.
She was a slow-burner initially, which is not a surprise out of Camelot, but her first sign of talent came in an eyecatching run at Kempton last term. After that, she started to settle more in her races, and scored quite nicely at Wolverhampton.
She has scope to improve her mark of 78 and with a decent draw on the inside in 4, she should also be considered in the Place market.
