Bets Of The Day: Well-treated Tatlisu a massive price to strike

Alan Dudman returns for the next seven days in the chair, and his two bets come from Newcastle and Taunton on Friday - with a big price selection running on the all-weather...

"During the 2016 Flat season he started out from a rating of 102, so from a 17lb lower mark, he is one of the best-treated horses in this race. I was surprised to see his price around 19.018/1 on Thursday night on the exchange."

13:20 Newcastle - Fahey's sprinter to go well from attractive mark

My old friend Tatlisu is back at Newcastle on Friday, and he is handicapped to strike - or at least go close - from a mark of 85.

The sprinter ran over course and distance in a similar sort of contest last month, which was his first-ever run on the all-weather (from a career 45 starts). They split into two groups, and he plugged on well enough at 25/1 to finish fifth. The winner came from further back than Tatlisu, but he was still in the mix in the final furlong.

Now we know he handles the surface and the track, this could be his sort of race as he stays a touch further and he likes to pick off his rivals.

During the 2016 Flat season he started out from a rating of 102, so from a 17lb lower mark, he is one of the best-treated horses in this race. I was surprised to see his price around 22.021/1 on Thursday night on the exchange - especially for a former Ayr Silver Cup winner.

14:30 Taunton - Behind to finish ahead of the pack

Tom George is in a decent run of form with five winners from his last 15 runners, and there's every chance Behind The Wire can improve in Taunton's 14:30 handicap chase.

Connections have wasted little time in sending this well-made sort over fences after just three spins over hurdles. He made his debut over the larger ones at Uttoxeter recently, but was beaten following a mistake. I'm not entirely convinced he was in love with the deep ground there either.

The 5yo has been dropped 3lb for that, and that was his first run since April.

Up in trip today should suit, as he shaped like a stayer when he ran over 2m4f last term. Now fitter on a quicker surface, he is open to improvement.

Friday's Recommended Bets (all 0.5pt)
