Alan signs off for the week with win selections for the two cards at Ripon and Chelmsford.....
"The drop to 6f tonight is a plus as this is his best trip."
Oasis can be a hit at Ripon
15:50 Ripon - Back Garden Oasis @ 13.012/1
The 0-95 1m2f handicap looks a good race at the garden course, and I expect Garden Oasis to build on his seasonal reappearance at the track last time.
That run was his first for trainer Tim Easterby since departing from Sir Michael Stoute, and also his first since being gelded. It was over 1m on good ground, neither of which presented him with his ideal conditions.
A bit of juice in the ground and an extra two furlongs will suit, as he took a while to get going in a handful of starts last term.
He's lightly-raced and he'll need to improve a fair bit from his mark of 82, but he looks capable of making an impact.
Count on Otto to excel back on the all-weather
18:00 Chelmsford - Back Count Otto @ 7.06/1
The return to the all-weather should do the trick for Count Otto - and he can add to his win tally tonight.
Amanda Perrett's 4yo was a very consistent horse last term in some good handicaps, and he held his form well for much of the campaign.
Last time out he ran in a very competitive race at Goodwood over 7f. He was badly hampered in that so it's encouraging to see him return so quickly after that incident - which wiped him out of the race. The drop to 6f tonight is a plus as this is his best trip.
The hood and blinkers are retained for a race that looks fairly open. Around the 8.07/1 mark will do for a horse with good record on all-weather tracks.
