"Nick Williams six-year-old jumped the different obstacles superbly and could have been named the winner some way out."
A look back at the Timeform Betfair Racing Club "Fixed Brush" Handicap Hurdle (Listed)...
The fixed brush hurdles at Haydock are usually a good indication of a horses ability to jump a fence and Diamond Harry, will certainly make a chaser in time. However, given the big impression he made under top weight in this handicap, he'll likely stay over hurdles for the time being and possibly be aimed at the top staying events towards the end of the season. Nick Williams six-year-old jumped the different obstacles superbly and could have been named the winner some way out, getting to the front on the bridle three out and merely kept up to his work by Timmy Murphy in the latter stages.
Burton Port, the runner-up clearly had no chance with the winner, but lost nothing in defeat as he battled on gamely, seeing the longer trip out very well. He made an impressive debut at Bangor earlier in the month and is entitled to improve on that effort when sent back over the larger obstacles, however, he still has mileage in him from his current hurdles mark.
Though still an unreliable jumper, Lysander looks as good as ever at the age of ten. He plugged on for a very good third and if persisted with over hurdles, he'll look well treated based on his chase form.
Pause And Clause was a very progressive novice hurdler last season and there's every chance he can continue to improve in the near future, he was travelling better than anything but the winner after four out but just seemed to feel the effects of a lack of a recent outing telling. He's sure to prove fully effective around three miles and will also make a chaser at some point.
