A belter of a contest with Sunderland Festival Flyer runner-up Roxholme Hat bidding to win his ninth sprint from just eleven tries up against CD specialist and track-record holder Pinpoint Mo. Both have solid claims but the one they could have under-estimated is Droopys Trapeze who posted the fastest sprint time of the year at Monmore on his return and flew round Newcastle in a recent trial.
Droopys Expert runner-up in major puppy competitions at Sunderland and more recently Nottingham has pacey King Turbo, cleared after his disqualification at Swindon, to contend with and better value may be found with strong-running Keplar Six.
Both Hayley Keightley handled littermates look nice prospects but it is Roxholme Ray that makes most appeal from a good make-up. Although trailing in over the shorter four bend trip here, he has handled further elsewhere and looks ready first time. Brother Roxholme Leonard has done nothing wrong but has pace to clear on either side.
Oscar Junior has an excellent record here, particularly over the more conventional 483m trip and must be included but Peterborough Derby finalist Idle Talker has hit form and makes marginally more appeal given his two from two record here with both wins from trap six.
Hard to see past Slick Strauss who is the only marathon winner in the field (two from five over trips in excess of 800m) and Pat Janssens charge is fancied to dominate from flag fall.
20:33 BGBF Oaks final
Tea For Tess is no good thing but showed good speed after missing the up in her semi-final to take her winning sequence to seven, all the more impressive as she was off from April through to the start of this competition. She would take plenty of stopping if trapping as she did in the first round but may need to with middle-edging Acomb Ruby on her inside. Should the pair impact each other's chances the selection's littermate Thameside Bound could step in. Richard Devenish's other finalist flew home for a first OR victory in the semi-final and could have the race run to suit.
A terrific one-off which offers recent Monmore Gold Cup winner Droopys Buick a good chance to repeat his victory of twelve months ago. Statistically ideally drawn in trap three, Angela Harrison's charge has the benefit of a sharp sprint trial here while Sussex Cup winner Shaneboy Freddie lacks a previous look. Dorotas Vic runs this circuit particularly well although has never won away from trap six but Savana Donie has proved effective from the inside recently may provide the forecast link.
21:08 Yorkshire St Leger final
Having won heat and semi-final in both the Grand Prix and Summer Stayers Classic, Swift Hansel missed out in the finals but his consistency can be rewarded by completing a clean sweep here. His draw outside simarily early-pace blessed Russelena Reggie ensures it will be far from straight-forward especially if the Select Stayers winner were to get the all-important first run. He will need to be on his mettle however to avoid middle-moving Cuba Libre who is capable of trapping himself which could work in favour of Charlie Lister's runner. Dinnington Lady, who had to endure a qualification run-off between rounds, should not be written-off for combination plays.
