Timeform provide three selections at Sheffield and Newcastle on Thursday...
"...his last competitive start in this class resulted in a facile success, and he is fancied to be seen in a much better light today."
Timeform on Tring Tornado
HEROIC HERO (Trap 5, 17.56) has only two victories on his C.V at Owlerton, yet it is worth noting that both have come in this afternoon's grade of A5 and, on the back of a couple of solid efforts, he is fancied to resume winning ways. Martin Cutler's charge can turn handy from his draw in the orange jacket and provided he escapes any trouble spots around the opening couple of bends, he can assert from the ¾ point.
The final race of the card takes place at 18.11, and it may pay to side with TRING TORNADO (Trap 5) to resume winning ways. The son of Romeo Recruit has had his true capabilities masked by trouble-in-running in handicaps of late, but his last competitive start in this class resulted in a facile success, and he is fancied to be seen in a much better light today.
Over at Newcastle, CANNY BOYCIE's (Trap 1, 18.22) losing run stretches back to May, but he lines up in a race in which he holds sound claims on expected final time and has a good make-up in the red jacket to work from. He needs to hold his position to the corner but in the hope he turns handy, he may well prove a tough nut to crack.
