"On a good punting card Droopys Live can add another winner to her excellent Sheffield record at the expense of Golden Jacket heroine Stardom in a fascinating match-up over 660m (19:19) where the latter may be disadvantaged by the lack of a previous look round"

2018 wasn't a bad year for Droopys Verve with a Derby runners-up spot and an All England Cup in the trophy cabinet and after last week's first round he arguably already has a paw or two on adding this event to his haul of honours.

While a draw in trap one in the third semi-final (21:01) might not be ideal as he looks to edge right from the boxes, his record in red reads favourably with a three from three tally. Lightfoot King, who took the prized scalp of Roxholme Nidge in the first round is naturally respected especially with railer Headford Johnny alongside, but Angela Harrison's charge has clearly set his stall early for 2019. While his prohibitive odds won't appeal to everyone an ante post wager with Sportsbook offers a viable alternative option.

Nudge nudge for Nidge

Defending champion Roxholme Nidge clearly needed the run when readily picked off in last week's heats but is confidently expected to bounce back to winning ways in the second semi-final (20:44). Hayley Keightley's prolific winner faces a class act in Droopys Expert on his inside, not to mention Small But Deadly on his right who will be making an immediate beeline for the fence, but the selection who went unbeaten through last year's renewal, clearly has the tools to get the job done.

Jump on Jim

Four heat winners contest the first semi-final (20:24) but it's another Keighley charge that earns the vote in Roxholme Jim who displayed gritty determination to clear his rivals at the first bend last week. Those included the pacey re-opposing Trade Fudge who was having a first look at the circuit and remains a threat while Droopys Wild's early speed should also not be under-estimated, but the selection can gain a fifth local win from six starts.

Live the Sheffield star

On a good punting card Droopys Live can add another winner to her excellent Sheffield record at the expense of Golden Jacket heroine Stardom in a fascinating match-up over 660m (19:19) where the latter may be disadvantaged by the lack of a previous look round.

Kennelmate Droopys Trapper can put an early Steel Cup elimination behind him from a good make-up outside railer Leons Jet over the same trip (19:51) with Gazilly Shay held on recent form lines.

Dylan in the dash

Local sprint specialist Coolavanny Dylan is also fancied to add another win to his tally (18:22) with Grays Cup Winner switched from Romford and dropped in trip opposable from a tricky trap four draw.

Earlier Freedom Lord can overcome a middle draw to get favourite backers off to a good start in the opening 500m contest (18:07).
