The East Anglian Derby rolls into action at Yarmouth tonight with all eight heats live on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 431) from 6pm. Check out Darrell Williams' best bets...

"Champion trainer elect Pat Janssens’ charge finished clear of the rest and with two wins in the preliminary rounds equating to amongst his career best performances the Juvenile hero certainly has a liking for the North Sea air"

Seaglass Phantom makes a return to the east coast bidding to go one better than when runner up to Affane Party in last year's final. The winner that night was in unstoppable form but champion trainer elect Pat Janssens' charge finished clear of the rest and with two wins in the preliminary rounds equating to amongst his career best performances the Juvenile hero certainly has a liking for the North Sea air.

His task in a particularly hot second heat (19:09) won't be straight-forward, but Derby quarter-finalist Roxholme Jim, part of a ludicrously strong Hayley Keightley team, will have no easy task clearing pacey Bramble Milburn while the selection should be able to master a below par Brinkleys Poet drawn on his inside.

More Glory for Roxholme

It will be some shock if Keightley hasn't already claimed heat one (18:55) by then with Derby semi-finalist Roxholme Glory looking the proverbial 'good thing' after his recent odds-on treble at Sheffield while kennelmate and dual Steel City Cup winner Roxholme Nidge will also be expected to wrap up the heat three (19:26). Don't under-estimate Rob Roy however in that clash with Paul Burr's runner defending an unbeaten Yarmouth record after clocking the fastest time for the year so far in the recent East Anglian Challenge and he should be included in forecasts and each-way wagers.

Good night for Mary?

The local runners appear to have a reasonably strong team this year and while Sandra Clayton's progressive youngster Mary Goodnight has had to twice give second best to Rob Roy she can claim a relatively weak heat seven (20:29) while her status as one of only nine wide runners could prove an advantage as the competition progresses.

Jake can conjure up a victory

I also fancy another 'home runner' Jakes Magic to enjoy a good Derby campaign and he can start by taking heat six (20:13) for Erica Samuels - no stranger to East Anglian Derby success having won the event with Do It For Twiggy four years ago. The extremely lighted raced October puppy looks a useful prospect and is one to keep on side as the event progresses.
