The Trainers' Championship brings together the sport's top six handlers over eight scintillating races at Sheffield and is live on RPGTV (Sky 431) tonight. Darrell Williams is across all the action.

"I expect Harrison to reap the ten points in the first leg with Move Over Evie a strong fancy in the Bitches contest (19:19) with her early speed an excellent asset over a more specialist 480m trip at the Owlerton Stadium at which she clearly excels"

In true gameshow style points make prizes with the need to score well across all eight legs more important than pinching a solitary winner. Although if we get to the last leg (21:18) with Angela Harrison on or near the top it's hard not to envisage Droopys Expert, probably the closest thing to a banker, sealing the deal.

The somewhat forgotten member of a team that were all the rage for outright success early in the week reminded us of what he is capable of with a huge run when just denied in the Steel City Cup final over the same 500m trip just a fortnight ago and while he will be short should form the cornerstone of all multiple wagers.

Evie coming through..

I expect Harrison to reap the ten points in the first leg with Move Over Evie a strong fancy in the Bitches contest (19:19) with her early speed an excellent asset over a more specialist 480m trip at the Owlerton Stadium at which she clearly excels.

Kennelmate Droopys Live contests a far more competitive Stayers heat (20:24) but her huge experience over this 660m trip coupled with a favourable inside draw should make her the one to beat and add another maximum to Harrison's tally.

Winner a winner

Puppy Cup winner Grays Cup Winner has quickly taken to the sprint trip at Sheffield and can provide Phil Simmonds with a maximum score in the two-bend shootout (20:08).

I fancy the Romford handler to score well and he looked over-priced earlier in the week but the withdrawal of one of his leading hopes in the second staying heat (20:44) will make it tougher. That contest could play a strong role in deciding matters with Mark Wallis' Golden Jacket runner-up Antigua Fire a shade under-priced and I'll take strong running Goldies Hotspur as a viable alternative.

Not top billing?

Somewhat strangely the top division of the Standard is not the deciding leg, but it doesn't detract from what looks an absolute belter with Juvenile 1-2 Seaglass Phantom and Ballymac Osby renewing rivalry. Not that they haven't met since with Kevin Hutton's charge extracting revenge not once but twice at Central Park. Add in Derby runner-up Droopys Verve and this should be a race to savour but with the top one box I fancy Pat Janssens' charge to emerge victorious.

Leader of the current trainer standings, Janssens also looks set fare for an excellent night with Headford Johnny the value pick against Harrison's Droopys Trapper in the other 480m clash (19:51) while kennelmate Seaglass Tiger can overcome a tricky draw to claim the puppy heat (19:36).

As to who will be holding the Trainers Championship trophy aloft come 9.30 tonight the margins look tight between Angela Harrison and Patrick Janssens but at the bigger price I'll side with popular Belgian handler.
