Greyhound Derby first round heats continues apace tonight at Nottingham. Catch it all live on RPGTV (Sky 431) and check out Darrell Williams' considered view in our new look column.

Sky's the limit for Logan

The '4 to follow' four you must follow. They took an early hit with the shock elimination of Burgess Bucks but top ante-post pick, Skywalker Logan, is strongly fancied to hit home in heat 23 (20:12) and the 5/4 with Sportsbook is worth securing. Pat Guilfoyle's charge make his intentions clear with a stunning solo spin last week and can account for well regarded Holdem Zidane who can round out the forecast.

Gold for Droopys

Derby winning trainer from 2017, Seamus Cahill, has selected a small but strong team this time and Droopys Gold can join fellow kennel star Sporting Dave in the second round in heat 31 (22:33). His resurgence of form after missing nine months last year has been nothing short of sensational and with excellent past Notts form in the locker he rates the night's best bet.

Roxholme Jim faces pacey rivals on either side in heat 28 (21:40) but is a match for most in that department and can nip around the corner in front after a series of impressive practice spins for Hayley Keightley.

No trainer is hotter with seven winners from 13 runners in the past month and a whopping 47% profitable strike rate in 2019.

Not so simple for Sim

Ballyanne Sim stunned greyhound fans when unexpectedly delivering in the Irish Derby final but may prove vulnerable after a short absence in a competitive heat 29 (21:58) and can be taken on after a moderate trial.

Leap into Quantum at a price

Quantum Leap turned over Irish hotpot Clonbrien Prince in a recent Trial Stakes and is worth a speculative each-way spin at tasty odds in heat 22 (19:56). Shrewd operator Pam Dolby's charge confirmed his liking for the track that night and the useful Romford regular six bend star is hugely tempting at big odds.

Short odds supporters should include 'four to follow' pick fast improving Lenson Blinder in heat 16 (22:48), speedy lone wide operator Lemon Express in heat 30 (22:16) and Irish Derby runner-up Magical Bale in heat 26 (21:05).
