It's Coronation Cup semi-final night at Romford and you can catch all the action live on RPGTV (Sky 431) from 18:00. Check out Darrell Williams' best bets.
"Chubbys Caviar was brave at the bend after pacing up on her Romford debut last week and could be one to keep on side to the extent that a small ante-post wager is also recommended"
Barricane Carina made it four wins on the bounce over Romford's 575m trip when clocking the fastest time in last week's heats and it's hard not to envisage Pat Janssens' bitch maintaining her red-hot form in tonight's second semi-final (20:21). While she is arguably at her slickest when drawn trap six a repeat of her exit from the same trap five box last week should be enough to quickly put her in command after which she is likely to prove too fast for the opposition. Saleen Ash ran well to win his heat from off the pace on a night that appeared to suit front-runners but is unlikely to hold the selection early on and it may be Janssens other runner Desperado Dan that proves the biggest danger. Potentially ideally drawn in trap one with only a vacant trap alongside and four seeded rivals outside he has taken well to the trip and track with three wins from four tries and appears the logical forecast link given his early pace style.
Bullet to bounce back
Brigadier Bullet has failed to justify favouritism in his last three outings - all over this CD but is given another chance to bounce back to winning ways in the third semi-final (20:38). Mark Wallis' charge created an excellent impression in the Essex Vase preliminaries and should relish the switch back to the striped jacket having had to work hard in last week's heat after being forced wide early on. Itsur Mate may lead early on but has now gone nine races since his last win over this trip and defending champion Shotgun Bullet is likely to prove a bigger threat having won well last week.
Caviar to prove too tasty
Wallis can also be on the mark in the opening semi-final (20:06) with Chubbys Caviar fancied to overturn fellow heat winner Clash in a contest that may primarily concern the pair. An impressive winner when stepped up to 550m at Henlow the week before, she was brave at the bend after pacing up on her Romford debut last week and could be one to keep on side to the extent that a small ante-post wager with Sportsbook is also recommended. Clash, runner-up in this event last season, boasts an excellent record over this trip and is given due respect. Pacey Pink Osteria will however need to step up if she's to figure again but Maysthistlecrack, while possibly better from trap five over this trip, could prove the main beneficiary should the inside runners end up taking each other on.
Time for Prime
Essex Vase hero Prime Time can erase an early Coronation Cup exit in a supporting 575m contest (19:33) with Phil Simmonds bitch, set to make all, rated the night's best bet.
Kennelmate Dower ForGold can also dominate in his first 400m contest since last summer and looks of interest in the heat of a Standard competition (20:53) while Chilli Chocolate can finally shed his maiden tag (18:27)
