Sarah has picked the last three Major winners and only a playoff defeat for Justin Rose at The Masters denied her a clean sweep this year...
"Sarah has made a huge impact, picking the winners of three of the year's four Majors. And it could very possibly have been all four..."
It's been a sensational year for Sarah Stirk on the Betfair blog.
The Sky Sports golf presenter joined the team early in the new year, penning columns around the marquee events and she made a huge impact, picking the winners of three of the year's four Majors. And it could very possibly have been all four...
The good run began in April when Justin Rose so nearly obliged at 28/1 in The Masters, the Englishman just ousted by Sergio Garcia in a famous playoff.
It was on to Erin Hills for the US Open two months later where all the pre-tournament talk was of the Wisconsin track's mega length. Plumping for huge-driving Brooks Koepka was another smart play for Sarah with the American golfer winning his first Major at a handsome 40/1.
Some Majors are won by outsiders but every now and then you need a favourite on your team and Jordan Spieth was the next winner for Sarah when the Texan claimed Open honours at Royal Birkdale, coming home ahead of the pack at 12/1.
And so we came to the final Major of the year - the USPGA at Quail Hollow - where a seemingly fit and healthy Rory McIlroy went off as the pre-tournament favourite at a course he adores. But while Rory was one of Sarah's selections it was a first-time Major winner who obliged, Justin Thomas doing the business at 40/1. A further bonus came with 18/1 Rickie Fowler landing a place.
The bad news is you will have to wait until mid-September for Sarah's next column when she will cover the final event of the FedEx Cup series, the Tour Championship at East Lake.
